Peonies, with their exquisite flowers, gorgeous fragrance and bold foliage add a dazzling splash of colour to the late spring and early summer garden.
These perennials can last up to 50 years have been around for over two millennia. They enjoy a cooler climate and are best planted in New Zealand from Taupo south to Stewart Island. They are very low maintenance and virtually pest free but do not like to be transplanted. So plan well and choose a sunny or part shaded spot with rich, fertile well draining soil.
