GardenPostPeonies
Peonies are cherished perennials, admired globally for their lavish, early summer blooms. These resilient, long-lived plants can thrive for generations with minimal care. When it comes to cut flowers, peonies are unmatched, whether arranged alone or in mixed bouquets. Their natural elegance and delicate, memorable fragrance make them a favourite choice. Peonies love the sun, flourishing best with at least six hours of sunlight each day. The more sun they receive, the more abundant their blooms, so plant them in the sunniest spot available. They are winter-hardy and grow best in regions with cold winters ( We recommend Taupo and below). Bare-root peonies can be planted in the spring or autumn in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. These plants can withstand frost and may be planted 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost date. Potted peonies can be planted at any time during the growing season.
